Brighton, UK: The Dekoni X HiFiMAN Cobalt closed-back headphone is available worldwide, and uses the latest high-quality 45mm dynamic drivers developed by HiFiMAN. Incorporating HiFiMAN’s premium build quality, and Dekoni's expert earpad technology - the Cobalt has been tuned to sound unlike any other closed-back headphone on the market.
Dekoni is best known for developing some of the finest earpads and eartips compatible with the biggest brands including Sony, AKG, Sennheiser, Apple, Beyerdynamic, Grado and Audeze to name just a few.
Having worked closely with the best headphone models since 2015, Dekoni not only understands the importance of using high quality earpads and eartips – over a decade of audio experience has provided Dekoni with the knowledge of what sounds good. This knowledge has been applied to the Cobalt.
Match made in audiophile heaven
HiFiMAN is widely recognised as creating some of the best headphones money can buy, so who better to provide the foundation for this collaboration. The Cobalt uses HiFiMAN’s lightweight headband design as used for their premium line of headphones, providing stability and comfort for hours of fatigue free listening. The housings are closed-back and made from tough plastic in order to keep the weight down and durability high.
To complete the design of Cobalt, Dekoni experimented with multiple styles of earpads using their Elite Series materials and high-density memory foam, and had each style tested thoroughly by the team. In the end they decided on the Fenestrated Sheepskin pads. Designed to be cooler and more comfortable than any other pad, they then added benefit of helping to give the headphone a cleaner soundstage by reducing reflections of the direct sound before entering the ear. The combination of comfort, breathability and resulting sound was the winner.
Of course, they did not stop there – the head engineer also created a unique set of Elite Velour pads, offering further enhanced comfort and an alternate tuning more to his preference. These Elite Velour pads are included with the first 1000 units of the Cobalt for the full Dekoni experience.
At the heart of Cobalt are bespoke 45mm dynamic drivers newly developed by HiFiMAN using the latest technology and techniques. The carbon coated diaphragm allows for greater tuning flexibility and the low impedance results in a more versatile headphone able to connect with a wider range of sources.
The Cobalt uses 3.5mm connectors for the replaceable copper cable, which is terminated with a 3.5mm jack and supplied with a 6.3mm jack adapter.
